for a shiningly, gloriously-mistaken second i thought that you had Thomas Dolby’s “she blinded me with science” up here.
i’m glad to have provided a second of bliss.
I think I emailed you about this, but for fellow readers’ benefit: I’ve just discovered some amazing new music. Aswan North, sometimes backed by the band Papertongues, is phenomenal. He’s currently working on a record deal, so you can’t download or buy any of the music yet, but a lot of it is up on his myspace – myspace.com/aswannorth. It’s new and thoughtful and interesting and rockin’…all things I love about music!
I also just got the soundtrack to the movie Once (which I haven’t seen yet, but is next in line in my Blockbuster queue). It features Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova and it’s gorgeous. I can’t wait to see the film, but even if it totally sucks, I’m still happy to have this music.
I resisted the Arcade Fire bandwagon for a while, but I just bought Neon Bible. It’s on the playlist for the ride home from Nashville, so I’ll let you know what I think after Saturday!
you’ve provided much more than a second of bliss- on the whim of seeing it in your rotation, i checked out bon iver and i really think that’s some of the best new music i’ve run across in a while.
great call, man!
