Television evangelist Jerry Falwell died today in his office at Liberty University. He was 73. Asked about Falwell’s legacy, Liberty EVP Ron Godwin said it would be Liberty University.
Most will remember Falwell as founder of the Moral Majority and the so-called Religious Right. Fellow conservative Pat Robertson called Falwell a ‘tower of strength’ in a morally relativistic age, and Falwell was vocal opponent of a number of societal ills.
Asked about his conversion and subsequent decision to preach, Falwell told the interviewer: “”My heart was burning to serve Christ. I knew nothing would ever be the same again.”
