The news that some service stations are opting to drop selling gas from their repertoire doesn’t come as much of a surprise. Most of them earn pennies on the gallon, even though the national average for a gallon of gasoline is climbing every day. It’s currently $3.22 for regular, according to AAA.
But surprisingly, even rising costs are not enough to curtail America’s addiction to petroleum. AAA also projects a small increase in the number of people traveling 50 miles or more this holiday weekend.
